THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE part 1 - APRIL 26th!
I need to take a moment here to tell you just how special this license is to me personally. TCM is probably the single most reason I became the horror fan that I am today. Like many of us wandering the aisle of our local video store as a kid, I stumbled upon the Media VHS cover, smiled, and told my dad “WE HAVE TO RENT THIS!” - and within the first few minutes of watching, I couldn’t believe my eyes. My kid brain almost couldn’t handle the realism and absolute dread of that opening scene, the high pitch sound of the flash bulb, and of course, the radio broadcast. Then, the corpse totem. It felt so real. As the film played through, I realized horror was so much more than I ever imagined. It wasn’t all just Godzilla and rubber monsters, Horror could feel real. Very real. Horror could be something so disturbing, but you can’t look away.
From that very moment, I fell into an obsession with the genre, and kept “chasing the dragon” if you will, with every film I rented. But nothing compared. Nothing ever gave me the same feeling I had watching TCM for the very first time. And to this day, it still stands as my all time favorite horror movie.
Needless to say, having the license is a dream come true, and I’m so thankful for all of your support, the artists that worked on this with me, and for making it possible for us.
